Gynura has a long history traveling throughout south east Asia and parts of Africa, and adopted many names globally.  Here are some names it also goes by:

Longevity spinach, Jin Fang Wei (in China), Daun Sambung Mjawa (in Indonesian), Sambung Nyawa (in Malaysia), Kim That (in Vietnam).  In the Philippines this plant goes by Ashitaba, the same name as another herb.  >To learn more about the true Ashitaba please read this article.
